Crows Nest is a family restaurant and bar with live music and crab races at Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island.
Tween Waters Inn has 2 restaurants, Old Captiva House has the breakfast buffet and fancy fine dining.
And the Crow's Nest is where all the fun is, plus you have views of the Gulf of Mexico in a casual atmosphere that reminds me of an old inn in New England.
We've had the good fortune of being able to stay at Tween Waters, so we've eaten at this Captiva restaurant several times .......... and the food was delicious each time we went!
Feast your eyes on this Mahi with Shrimp Scampi piled on top, over rice and served with veggies.
The seating is very comfortable and the service is excellent. Our server, Jarrett, was quite the character!
You can sit at either tables or booths in one of several dining rooms or sit at the bar. The main dining room has a fireplace for chillier nights.
The best part is you have a pretty good view of the water, especially if you sit in one of the booths.
The main dining section and the bar are in the front dining room, and that's where they have the ever popular crab races on Monday and Thursday nights and live music and dancing on other nights.
The family-friendly crab race starts at 6, and the crab race for adults starts at 9, when the jokes get a little more suggestive. The races run from October - August.
The way it works is this, as you eat your dinner, the Master of Ceremonies calls each table up one by one so you can pick your crabs and name them. Each crab has a number painted on it so it can be easily identified.
By the time you're done with dinner... it's time for the races! Adults sit around a round table with small children secure in their laps, and older children behind them.
After instructions, jokes, witty banter, and a few demo races, the crabs are dumped in the middle of the table, the round cage is lifted and the crabs are off .... the first crab to reach the edge of the table wins!
Even though none of our crabs won, we had a blast! Half of the money you pay to race goes to charity and the other half is divided up between the top 4 winners.
Go for their Sunday Barbeque Nights, it was so good, I had pulled pork and beef brisket.
The next night I had their Pan-Seared Snapper with a tasty and tangy kiwi and red pepper salsa ......... mmmmmmmmm.
For dessert, I had to get their Creme Brulee in a Chocolate Crust .... all I can say is yowzah!
Expect to pay around $10-20 for dinner. They serve starters, sandwiches, pizza, and entrees .... seafood, steak, and ribs.
If you're staying at Tween Waters and going to the pool, the Oasis Pool Bar serves food from the Crows Nest menu.
Choose from sandwiches, burgers, or salads ........ and for beverages you can chill with smoothies, daiquiries, and beer.
